Night-time in New York City, the time of day during which many of the city’s freaks and other strange phenomena would come out from their hiding places, and for Chip he was no exception. Tonight he found himself in a place he frequented: an old automotive junkyard which served as a particularly handy place to scrounge for parts when his motorcycle needed repairs. However, tonight he would uncover something he wouldn’t have ever expected, another fellow freak of the night.

It’s been sometime since the motorcycle incident that his rookery brother Lexington made to which he himself messed the entire vehicle up. The smaller gargoyle was definitely not happy with this development, so in an effort to make it up to him, he was scouring an automotive junkyard they went to last time to gather up the parts for the bike. Tonight he was alone, looking into piled up cars and motorcycles for the appropriate parts, being pretty cautious to not be seen by humans after what happened the last few times.

“Ugh…doing this alone is harder than it looks…” He muttered to himself as he kept looking.

“Looks like you guys made the wrong call.” Saud by one of the thugs who came at Chip with the switchblade as another went to try and throw deep punches at him. While that happened, two of the men came to tackle the gargoyle only to have then get smacked by his thick red tail and thrown at the 5th gang member.

It was rare that Chip revealed himself to humans, but this was a special case. “Now, now. No need to cause a scene here.” The wolf man kept his distance from the gang, hands up in front of himself. Despite his outwardly gruff demeanour, Chip usually tried to avoid getting into fights when he could, instead preferring a diplomatic approach.

“Let the kid go and we’ll move on like nothing happened. If you don’t… well, let’s just say you made the wrong call. ”

Brooklyn was waiting for the opportunity to strike when needed too, but he was gonna hold back and see the gangs response. One of them pulled out a switchblade knife and pointed it towards the wolf man. “Ain’t gonna happen. It’s 6 against 2. Now leave so you don’t get involved, freaks.” The gang members started go slowly make their way towards the two.

The gargoyle looked at his friend. “Ready to take them on?”

There were few things Chip enjoyed more than a pleasant nighttime ride on his bike, accompanied by a good friend. The night air was cool and still, and the dark sky was clear enough to make out a few stars amongst the bright lights of the Big Apple.

It wouldn’t be New York if it didn’t have crime like up ahead of them as a young teenager was being harassed by what looks like a gang. Brooklyn managed to see this while driving and cocked his head towards the scene. “Wanna take care of that?”

Immediately at the sight of said crime taking place, Chip slammed on his brakes and the bike skidded to a halt. He never liked it when an innocent was coming under fire from some assholes, and Chip wouldn’t take this lying down either. “Looks like the trash needs taking out.” Smirked the wolf as he climbed off his bike and cast an aside glance to Brooklyn.

“Definitely.” The gargoyle stopped his bike next to the other and then got off of it to start walking towards the thugs messing with the innocent teen. It didn’t take a few seconds for the gang members to stop what they were doing to see the two strange men come towards them. It was 2 to 6 so they thought that it was going to be a very quick beat down on the so called ‘heroics’ these two were about to do.

“Stay back or else your gonna get into a world of hurt.” Said one of them, holding the kids shirt with his fist.

“Sounds ideal.” He nodded and went to open up the garage to see his bike resting on its kickstand. He filled it up with gas just to be safe and rolled it out of the small building and into the street. He also checked himself to fill in his wings and apply his leather jacket, helmet and shades. “Ready?”

By the time the gargoyle had suited up and retrieved his ride, Chip was waiting on his motorcycle. “Ready. Let’s roll!” He switched on the ignition and his trusty bike growled to life again.

The gargoyle grinned and started his own vehicle to then begin driving down the road with the wolf man by his side. Since this was nothing fast paced, the gargoyle predicted that he would enjoy this smooth ride more than the race yesterday not that there was anything wrong with that of course.

“Yeah. Very heavy sleeper here, man.” He leaned against the wall as well. “So what do you want to do tonight? Usually me and my brother patrol out in the streets for any trouble.”

“How about we take that ride of yours out for a proper test run?” Suggested Chip as he tapped his claw against the closed garage door. “Maybe travel through the quiet parts of town, though not too fast this time. Can’t risk the cops getting on our tails again.”

“I slept the entire day and woke up almost immediately when the sun came down. Feeling really refreshed honestly.” He chuckled a small bit at the shoulder pat after the returned handshake. “You play an instrument? That’s a cool thing to know.”

“Heavy sleeper, eh? Nice.” He too laughed and leaned back against the wall. “And yeah, guitar’s a fun way to pass the time. Maybe I ought to show you one of these days.”

He smiled at seeing the wolf man at the same spot that they agreed to meet at. “Great to see you here, Chip. How was your day? Assuming that you slept through most of it.” He made a small chuckle when he stood near him.

“Not far off on that one.” Chip laughed softly as he was greeted by gargoyle. “Yeah, slept most of the day soon as I got home. Played a bit of guitar after waking up, then came here to meet you. Nice to see you by the way.” He shook the gargoyle’s hand once more and gave his shoulder a friendly pat. “And how did the day go for you?”

The gargoyles spent the entire day frozen in their stone slumber until the night started to come once again. All the gargoyles broke out of their slumber with a mighty roar to then quickly discuss about tonight’s plans. Brooklyn came clean about what had happened last night and the others seemed concerned that he has met a new stranger that turned out to be friendly. After much convincing, Brooklyn set out to both do his patrol and make his way over to the garage, hoping that his new companion didn’t bail out on him.

Luckily for Brooklyn, there was no way in hell Chip would miss out on the chance to see his new pal again. When Brooklyn would arrive at the garage, that’s where he’d find Chip, seated upon the same familiar bike, sporting that same familiar smirk.
